Request

I have a special request for all my friends who read this:

Next week the seven Baha'is, known as the "Friends of Iran", who were arrested for no other reason than that they were Baha'is who supervised the affairs of the believers in that region, are being tried at the revolutionary court in Iran on trumped up charges and allegations:  "espionage for Israel, insulting religious sanctities and propaganda against the Islamic Republic.”  The supreme legislative body of the Baha'i Faith is in Israel, so espionage with Israel basically means receiving correspondence from the head of its Faith,  (just like Catholics would receive guidance from the Vatican), and the other two charges are so ludicrous and false, one can't even find the teeny tiny spec of it that could be snowballed into a massive lie.  Especially considering that one of the laws ordained by Baha'u'llah Himself is obedience to one's government, and non-involvement in partisan politics--we couldn't promote propaganda against any nation's government and still call ourselves Baha'i.

I understand that if they are found guilty of these things, they can be handed an execution order. Iran, being now famous for its violation of human rights, is a place where one cannot currently hope that lack of evidence will be enough to ensure a not-guilty outcome.  It may not ensure that at all.

So my request is for anyone reading this, Bahai or not, to say some prayers for these seven people who have already been suffering for so many months, and some prayers for their families, for their protection, and that the outcome of this situation will help advance the cause of human rights in Iran.
